Hi again everyone,
Well, what a fantastic day out!  Delia, Pat Logan (Howe) and I took off at 10.30am from Turnham Green station, changed at Hammersmith on to the Piccadilly line and on to Covent Garden.  There we met at 11.15am in the market square close to the Opera House, with 18 other girls from our school year - twice as many as had attended 4 years ago at my last reunion which was terrific for me, as some of them I'd known from primary school including (this is for Trish) Carole Bradbury, Tania Prince, Sylvia Nicholson, Sheila Dodd & Doreen Kohlbeck (the latter two asked after you Trish).  Don't know why we bothered to go to a posh restaurant for a silver service meal as the highlight was just being able to talk to each other for almost 5 hours non-stop! hardly noticed what we were eating (though did notice that they charged £5 for a glass of wine!) however, it was well worth going and everything went well until we decided to leave! - that's where the fun really started!
During the afternoon, London Transport (in their wisdom) decided to close down Covent Garden station and left instructions for us to walk to either Leicester Square or Holborn.  Trouble was, when we got to Leicester Square we were then told over the PA that there had been a fire at Oxford Circus and there would be "lengthly delays for trains on the Piccadilly line", and suggested that we go to yet another underground station.  I lead the way down to the Embankment station (where I used to get the train to and from the Strand to work - 40 odd years ago) only to find that they weren't using either the District or the Circle line on 23rd & 24th June due to repairs to those lines!  This meant that we had to walk back to the Bakerloo Line at Charing Cross to catch a train to Paddington (good job we had "day trip" tickets - having to go in and out of so many different stations!) - finally made it to Paddington at 5.15pm and had to rush upstairs to the "main line" to get a train at 5.25pm to Acton Mainline station and then we were home at last!  What a journey!  The positive side for me was that I got to have a good walk around my old stamping grounds, including passing by Coutts Bank where I used to work.  Think I should sleep well tonight!

Having Fun
Hope you are both well and hope to see some more photos soon - if you are passing...one of the new Arsenal Emirates Stadium and what's left of Highbury would be good!

Love Graham xxx
