After the excitement of the wedding Barry and I spent a truly memorable five days with my nephew Mike and his wife Linda, enjoying the sights around the Thousand Island area.  On Monday we took a 3 hour cruise around the islands on a large boat leaving and returning from Gananoque a beautiful riverside town not far from Kingston.  After the cruise we walked to the home of Marion (sister of Joe Mundell - Joan's husband) and also happily met up again with my niece Patty who happened to be there at the same time.  They were just off to the Casino for a little bit of gambling on the poker machines so we didn't detain them long as we were due to see them again on the Wednesday.
Tuesday afternoon we took a fantastic trolley bus tour of Kingston and learned a great deal about the town.  Kingston was originally the capital city of Canada and has a a really interesting history, they also have almost the entire collection of Canada's prisons - 8 in total from minimum security open prison farms to the maxium security housing their most notorious prisoners Barry at lock - Washburn Road

. It is also the home of Canada's naval academy which is within the historic site named Fort Henry.  Following this, Mike and Linda took us to their fish shop nearby to pick up 3 enormous live lobsters for our tea!  What a treat that was! quite the most delicious seafood meal we'd ever had.
A little sadly the following day, we had a funeral to attend.  Evelyn - another of Joe's sisters, lost her 93 year old Scottish husband Alexander after more than 60 years of marriage.  It wasn't really a sad occasion as Alec had enjoyed a happy and productive life and we were able to celebrate his life with five of Joe's surviving siblings, Elward, George, Wray, Marion and of course Evelyn who was so very pleased to see us there and greeted us very warmly. We were also able to reaquaint ourselves with many other members of the wonderul Mundell clan.
Then it was time to say goodbye to everyone after our all too short visit to Canada.  We were both treated like royalty throughout our time there and are both anxious to spend more time in the future with our wonderful Canadian family.  Mike and Linda kindly drove us all the way back to Toronto for our 8pm flight out to London.  We stopped for a great final meal together at a Keg Restaurant near the airport where I decided on spicy escargos with steamed asparagus for my meal which gave me 10 snails and what amounted to about 3 average bunches of fresh asparagus!  What a feast for one!
Our flight to London was delayed for an hour because of a major oil spill on the tarmac next to our plane!  Gladly it was all cleared up with the aid of loads of sand and plenty of men with brushes, watched by 300 anxious tourists waiting for the plane.  We got off at 9pm and arrived a little after 9am the following day.
