I do love cooking and I really love cooking out of my environment. Not a challenge today but I must tell you there are good things and bad things about groceries here!

The best things to date are, and this is what I have discovered in just one week:

Ice cubes are the size of two golf balls stuck together, you can not stop drinking until your ice is done, that is a rule! We need this recipe at the French River...maybe we don't???

Their Ziplock bags are long and narrow, perfect for those wonderful breadsticks we all buy from Ace Bakery but have to break in half in our perfectly square 8 x 8 bag!

Wine is under 2 euros....need I say more?

Scotch, for Tony and his Compari is under 20 and 10,

A beautiful steak for BBQ steak al la "Fiorentina" is under 10 euros

Fruit is all harvested now, the strawberries are almost free, but if you have all the fruit known in our grocery stores, it is in our back yard and growing now, We had avocado this morning from the tree and it was incredible!!!

"Scrubbies" fit the palm of your hand and perfectly get into every corner of the frying pan

Eggs are individually stamped within a carton of 12 with their own best before dates, not all the same date!,,

The bad to date:

Butchering is awful, unless you go to a proper butcher

You often say, "what the hell is that?"

You come home and always forget something!

All in all we embrace the adventure and have a toast, how fortunate are we to be sharing a meal embraced by another culture in another land!

IEstaba buenisimo! ISaludi!
Bon Apetit!

Oh YUM. Interesting how some things can be so different - like a toaster! I am dying for one of those avocados!! Everything sounds so great! I love that you have your own Nina near by too!

What a palette! Made my mouth water. As for the toaster made me think of the old one Grandad had at the cottage! Due to my ability to burn bread at the best of times best I'm no where near one of those! Your presentation looks delicious.
