My first visit to third world countries!

$10.....That is what it cost to live like king in Indonesia. For a week straight, we live in our own private bungalows ($2.50 p/day) with banana crepes and hot tea brought to us each morning. After breakfast,we went and hopped on our rented motorcycles ($2.50 p/day) and cruise the tropical island of Bali. A few days we grabbed our surf boards and headed to such magnificent surf breaks as Uluwatu break and Bali break, a coral break which requires climbing down a rock cliff to reach the ocean. I don't know what was more dangerous, the surfing or the motorcycle ride there (homemade surf rack bolted to the cycles, winding roads with obstacles such as cows, chickens, goats, and kids, police trying to chase us down to give us "fake" tickets and force us to give high amounts of bribe $$ to let us off, to crazy bus drivers not caring if they make us road kill or not). The view from this cliff is one I'll never forget, well worth the small risk. We spent the week getting to know the Balinese language and culture, giving us a great appreciation for the people and the food. One days American salary is what most of these people live on for a year. One last FYI...mushrooms are as legal as beer, which causes choosing what to order even more tough...Freshly picked "magic mushroom milkshake" or a beer...hmmm?? Tough one!!
