Boa tarde!
So the craziness that was carnival is now all over, and what a spectacle it was.
Sunday Night (18.02.07) was the first of the main carnival parades. 6 were performing that night, which included the second best school from last year's parade. By the reception they received, and the quality of the dancers, floats, music, fireworks - I think they're heading for the top.
This time we were in the tourist sector, so the experience was perhaps a little less authentic. Definitely higher quality than the previous night's entertainment.
We stayed until about 1.30 a.m
On Monday (19.02.07) we headed back to Copacabana to have some time on the beach and the internet, as well as staying there for dinner.
Amusing incident with a local specialty - Coraçao de Frango - for Fianait and Julianne. We knew it was chicken, but their British (well I suppose technically Irish) stomachs were adventurous enough to try Chicken Hearts (!!!), but I am told that the bloody aftertaste was too much to handle. I take my hat off to them.
Tuesday (20.02.07) - last day in Rio, tried to do washing, but everywhere was closed as Shrove Tuesday is a national holiday. So we wandered around the civic centre, before retiring to the joys of air conditioning and Warner Brothers TV in our room, rather than braving the afternoon heat.
Bye for now,
J

I heard it on the grapevine
James, an intriguing question. Guess whose bedroom cupboard was infested with maggots and black flies in their kitchen cupboard?!
I bet Brazil isn't anything in comparison!
Clue: 80?!
cooking
just made some bread. Think about you every time I use my magimix. Found some good recipes for when you come home. Don't bring the chicken heart recipe home! Derrick doesn't like it anyway. Lots of love P & D
