Hello All,
Sorry it`s been a while - it´s all been kind of hectic around here.
So, since the last post...
Thursday Evening - Met up with Fianait´s cousin and friends. Capirinha´s-a-plenty: something like a Mojito, but without the Mint and with special Brazilian Sugar Cane Rum.
Friday - 16.02.2007
Friday was a mad day - changeover time from our own hotel to the Rio Carnival Package.
We were also supposed to be booking a bus for Emily and Sophie from Sao Paulo, but cryptic emails caused lots of confusion, but that is a whole other story. In short we had no idea if, when or how they were arriving.
Anyway, the move to Hotel Granada went smoothly. Although Julianne and Fianait were crammed in the back of the taxi with my (23kg) rucksack across them! I was fine in the front - but I like to see it as a fair deal seeing as I do most of the talking, booking and bartering in Portuguese!
We sorted ourselves out in the hotel then headed to Pao de Açucar - Sugar Loaf Mountain. Sadly, it was a cloudy day, so the pictures are not very good. It is essentially the Headland between Copacabana/Leme and another stretch of beach and some small but tall sea islands. Cable car up, which was an experience and the views before the cloud were amazing.
Finally - Emily and Sophie arrived safe and sound - a great relief.
Think I´ll continue in another post.
Bye for now,
J
