After stopping off in Byron Bay and deciding it was too touristy, too stormy and too busy to warrant any more time, we headed up to Surfers Paradise to get lunch and see if we might want to spend time there.
On the way to Surfers Paradise, we remarked how similar this area looked to Florida. Turns out when we made that observation that we were driving through a town called Miami Beach.
Well, naive as we were, Surfers Paradise is far from what I would call paradise. It was more crowded and more developed than Byron Bay. After some lunch and a walk, we hit the road again in search of somewhere quieter and more peaceful.

Surfer's Paradise
When we were here, we barely made it through town. It was the World Cup Surfing Championships that weekend. What a crowd!
