The title says it all. Forget Paris, go to Prague. That is what I would recommend anyone thinking of taking a trip. Just as beautiful, half the price and friendly people who don't take your tourist dollars for granted.

I took a bus to Prague from Cesky Krumlov and like my previous entry, it is just how I pictured it. The bus was old and rusty. It was packed with people sitting and standing. It was delayed by 2 hours due to horrible traffic conditions. The seats were creaky and it seemed to drip rain water everywhere. I loved every minute of it.

I admit I had very high expectations for Prague. I had wanted to go on my previous trip but did not have the time. Without a doubt, my expectations were met and then some. Most things people want to see in Prague are within the old town area where it is within walking distance. Within the old town all the roads are paved with cobble stone, also, few cars are allowed to enter the area so it makes it very pleasant to stroll around.

At night, Prague becomes even more picturesque. All the historical buildings are lit up creating endless picture opportunities. Not accidentally, it is also in Prague where I have seen the most people with professional cameras and large tripods snapping pictures.

Up on the hill across the river is the picturesque Prague Castle, and below the famous Charles Bridge. Charles Bridge is packed 24x7 with tourists, street performers, vendors, tourists and more tourists. At certain hours you can barely walk and everyone is shoulder to shoulder. There are so many people snapping pictures in every possible angle that I gave up trying to get out of the way. I just walk straight and plough through.

There is almost nothing I did not like about Prague except perhaps the hoards of tourists. The numbers have picked up a notch ever since the discount airlines such as EasyJet have begun hauling tourists here. I escaped the crowds by visiting the TV tower which is the CN tower equivalent of Prague. I have always enjoyed visiting the local tower if there is one. This one did not disappoint with an excellent restaurant up top and very reasonable prices. The outer wall of the tower also had big baby statues in climbing poses. Very funny, very cool.

Forget Paris, go to Prague.

PS. A big Hello to some people I have met in Prague. Marcello, Luchia, Maria and Sita if you are reading. Cheers.
