As of today I am in Korea for my first full day, not teaching yet until I have some training on September 5th though. Its more than a little scary as I have one Korean English speaking teacher to aid me - although the principle does very well for himself I must say. I might have to try to learn Korean though.

I am located in Yongi-kun (county) in Chungcheongnam-do province of the Republic of Korea. Presently I have no permanent address, I am staying with the English-speaking Korean teacher, Alice, until I am setup with a place. I found that my assignment is strictly conversational English, but at a number (seven at last count) of local schools with a primary assigment of Yeonso school in a little town north-east of Daejeon (Provincial capital city).

I don't kid myself I tink this is going to be a hard assignment, but rewarding if I can make it go Plentiful Foods of Korea

. However I must be important to them as I already have an private office (only the principle has one too), a computer and I am considered part of the staff. Now the last part sounds silly to say, but I was expecting to be slightly isolated as a foreigner (tomorrow I have to register myself with the government so they can track/tax me - told ya about the taxes), I ended up being pleasantly suprised so far.

Oh and the principle is off at another local school today with all the other county principles for the grand opening of a swimming pool at a local school. Cool.

It so friggin hot and humid, I am gonna die. Jeremy signing off.
