We had lunch, then back for our second ride. I had a new horse, Freckles, and Justin had a huge horse - Paco. We were riding with a mother and daughter from California who were nice, but the mother was riding behind me and she wouldn't stop talking the entire time, disturbing my peace.
We had another nap, then showered and went to meet Jay, the ranch manager, and his girlfriend Sherri, who were taking us out in town. We had a beer at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar, where they have bras hanging around the front bar and open BBQs (bring your own meat) in summer in the huge outdoor courtyard (with stage). Next we had dinner and beer at Chikin Coop and listened to a band. There were a couple of guys out the front with their horses, hitching them up to posts at the front door.
We finished at the Longhorn. The paddock next door served as the car park, and was jam packed with trucks (oversized utes). Inside was nicely busy with a slightly older crowd. Everyone knew everyone. There was a live band, and every time a song came on half the crowd would get up and dance the two-step! It was quite old fashioned - the gentlemen would get up and ask the women to dance, they would have one dance then return them. Justin and I two-stepped a few times. It was so much fun! Everyone was wearing shirts, jeans, big belts, boots and cowboy hats. Out the front was a corral of hay for people to hitch their horses (and their longhorn cows!). It was just like being in the movies!
Mum called while we were there, and it was funny to talk to her out front of the bar trying not to step in cow and horse pats. She wanted to hear my voice, and it got me a little teary... Love you Mum!
Drove home in the pitch black and saw a few deer on the side of the road. Great night!
