We ended last night with cheese danishes from Bob's Doughnut (a big hit in the city, apparently) and a quick visit to downtown Palo Alto to see some of my high school friends. I was once again able to fulfill my life-long dream of singing in front of a live audience when some lovely fellas with a mic and every instrument known to man asked me to sing "Imagine" in front of Pizza My Heart at 2 am -- if that's not making it big, I don't know what is
Today, we attended Ashley Demling's graduation party and I loved mingling with a lot of the same people I will see at her wedding. The other bridesmades and I even finished planning her bachelorette party, and we're set for the weekend of July 17. This will put me back in the bay for a third time this summer. And I'll even be back two other times after that: once for her shower in August and again for the wedding in September....I can't complain about getting my fill of the best destination in the world :-D
This fine Saturday afternoon also included a trip to Fleet Feet (my high school employer which was formerly known as The Runner's High) where I got to catch up on all the latest of what my old running buddies/coaches/shoe salesmen friends are up to...Found out Kevin Chaves will attend Stanford in the Fall for his Master's in Philosophy and that Rini is still Rini (enough said for those who know him).
Next, I made 2 separate trips to Trader Joes and 1 to Andronico's: as a thank you to the Westras for letting us stay at their beautiful (resort-esque) home in the hills, I cooked a small feast of my signature dish -- lemon & parmesan encrusted halibut with mango garnish and a side of greens & grains for good measure. Gitta, her friend Julie, and I had a great time chatting, eating and drinking til our hearts' content. Meanwhile, Sarah was off in the East Bay visiting her college bestie, Ellen.
Good time's all around! But now it's time for some serious shuteye...we have quite the hike in the morning as a final effort to train for Half Dome (which by the way isn't even open at the cables yet -- let's hope that snow melts by Tuesday!) Till next time.....
