The long journey...

So we have gotten settled into our dorm rooms at Tulane. We are staying in one of the dorms and the rooms are suite-style with two girls on each side. We are going to be switching roommates each week in order to get to know everyone better and experience different viewpoints
A few downfalls, there are some large cockroaches outside of the girls rooms which makes us each a little paranoid. We made a run to Wal-Mart and everyone thought I was a little silly for purchasing three boxes of reduced fat cheez-its. Well its time to go but i will put up pictures from the drive later tonight after the tour!!
ok so ps i forgot to mention that I had my first taste of New Orleans food! We went to a tavern on St. Charles Ave (which is up in the Garden district where they did not get hit too hard by the hurricane). I shared a sampler platter of jumbalya, gumbo, and red beans and rice. The gumbo had a bit of a strange background taste but was full of shrimp and very good. It is more of a soup but has rice and seafood and a broth. The jumbalya was delicious even though we couldnt tell exactly what was in it but it is definately a rice dish with some meats and southern spices. The red beans and rice is pretty simple with white rice topped in red beans but it was also very yummy.
