Rain was falling again when we woke up this morning but we figured that we wouldn't let that deter us too much so we got ourselves ready, dressed warmly and headed out.  It was much colder this morning - with a little wind.  We walked down towards the market area and since we didn't have breakfast we figured that an early lunch would be good.  We went to a tavern that we had seen in previous days and it was full due to the damp weather.  Jim had mushroom soup in a bread 'bowl'.  Jason - this might even be a closer representation of what you had at the Irish Pub....then he had some kind of pork and grilled vegetables. I had a cottage cheese type thing - it was interesting but not as good as I had hoped.  Then I wanted to stop at a few places again from the past days and Jim had some things that he wanted to do - so we split up - by that time the rain had stopped and it was a lot easier for us to get around.  We met back up and by that time the skies were quite clear and we walked up towards the Tivoli Park Ljubljana 01

.  On our way there we noticed a very nice old "home" so we went to get a closer look and I thought to myself, what looks familiar about that place?  Then I said to Jim "There is an American Flag flying - let's go check it out" It was the American Embassy.  We took a few photos and then we were told by the security guards that we couldn't take photos.  Jim told them that we just wanted a photo of our tax dollars hard at work.  He laughed but asked us to not take any more.  A very beautiful building - but I did think that it was quite out in the open - not a very secure looking area.  We proceeded to the park and spent a couple of hours wandering around on the trails - it was very, very nice.  There is even a zoo there - although we did not have time to visit it.  This city does have quite a bit of graffiti around it and I am including a few photos of it - as we started looking at it we realized some definite talent and incredible detail in some of it.  The sun was starting to go down and we decided that we could have an earlier dinner since we had lunch early today.  We went back to the restaurant that we ate at the first night - unfortunately we had to eat inside - but it was great just the same.  McTaggart, Jim took your advice and although it was 'colder than gelato' outside, Jim was feeling venturous and ordered up a double chocolate cone to 'fill in the cracks'.  Then we stopped at the café at our hotel for a coffee to warm up with and we ordered a Slovenian specialty - Kremsnita - or cream cake.  It looks heavier than it is - it is a quite light texture - custard and whipped cream - with a pastry dough on the top and bottom - and then some powdered sugar.  Jim loved it and that filled in the cracks that the gelato couldn't quite fill.  I thought it was pretty good too!  Well that about sums up our last full day in Ljubljana.  Tomorrow morning our train leaves at 10:10.  I may not be able to check back in until later this weekend - but we have the laptop and will try to keep up with the journals and photos and will upload it all when we get back to Munich.

Last Day
Well, again you didn't disappoint us. It looks like a lovely city and of course the food looks great too. I really liked the looks of that pizza yesterday and the dessert from today.

I am not sure it is fair to all of us to show us all the good food. I find it odd that you say how good it is when: I have never seen you drink coffee - I have never seen you eat that kind of food. I think you need before and after pictures of YOUR meals so I believe it!!!

TULIP POPLAR
FYI
The huge tree in Tivoli Park is Liriodendron tulipifera or as we MidWesterners call it, a tulip tree. Jim had one outside his bedroom window on the farm. I'm sure he remembers that 8^)

CHARMED!
Even the graffiti looked interesting. You certainly enjoyed this city and its river, parks, churches, monestery, and food. It looked like living shades were set up above chairs on the street. Interesting! We certainly enjoyed this city right along with you.
