A beautiful day today - we enjoyed the morning at home - sitting outside on the terrace. Then Sharon had an idea to take the train south of Munich and show us a beautiful lake area. The lake is Starnberg and this lake is famous for the place that "Crazy" King Ludwig drowned. King Ludwig was the Bavarian King that built Linderhof Castle and Neuschwanstein, among others. We exited the train and were right there. We walked along the waters edge and there were so many swans including one mating pair. It was quite interesting. We walked down to a very nice restaurant and had a wonderful meal. Sharon and I split a very good schnitzel of veal with roasted potatoes and Jim had .... Asparagus soup with Black River Crabs - or crawfish - and then Schweinshaxe - or Pork Knuckle - with dark beer sauce. It was all quite excellent! We then stumbled upon a crazy little fair that was going on - we kind of checked that out then we headed back into downtown Munich to the Viktalienmarkt to pick up some supplies for one of our upcoming travels
Today at work Christoph had a big party celebrating the opening of their new office and there were BMW reps from all over Germany attending. Due to that, and after our big lunch we decided to just head home and snack on something later.
We arrived home to the news stating that the terror alert level that was actually raised in Germany a couple of weeks ago is now the big news story of the day - well that and Paris Hilton... They are talking about air travel but also with it relating to military - we shall see I suppose - it never seems to end. We will stay alert however.
Tomorrow we get Christoph back so we should be out exploring some more.
Auf Wiedersehen.
Clue 1
An adventure for Jim
Which started on a whim
Traveling 6 ½ hours by train
Where there are dragons to be slain
To this medieval capital city
That is small but quite pretty
Two world leaders first met in this place
And this city hosted them with grace
Munich 01
. Speaking of travels, some of you know that I am taking Jim on a little surprise trip and I will let you all play along if you would like. At the end of this I will give you a clue as to where we will be heading. I will give the answer once we arrive there so as to not give it away to Jim. Feel free to e-mail us or leave comments with your ideas.Today at work Christoph had a big party celebrating the opening of their new office and there were BMW reps from all over Germany attending. Not a clue
I have no sense of time or distance in Germany as I have never been there so I have not got a clue where you are going. I am sure I will know it when you tell us. I looked a little like that orange fish Friday morning as I had too much fun after golf on Thursday. I hope you are getting to see Chicago get its butt kicked by the Pistons. Terry
