Maybe it never rains in Rome - In anticipation of a late night tonight with our friends we decide to sleep in a little, do laundry, go to the local market this morning. We headed out around noon to Piazza del Popolo and then once there did the internet and had a little lunch.

Jim's 'ex' Shell Wholesale Rep Dave and his wife Lori are here for a little vacation - and we planned to get together with them for the afternoon and evening - so as they were making their way through the Spanish Steps area we decided to have them meet us in the Piazza del Popolo and we took them into the Santa Maria del Popolo Chuch - showed them some of the art - then we pointed out a few highlights on the way back down towards the Trevi Fountain. They had not seen the fountain to this point - they were amazed at the size. Photos and television documentaries never do things justice - so we took a lot of photos - made a few wishes and tossed a few coins Albergo del Senato View 01

. (Jerry and Sandy - two wishes and two coins have been tossed for you!!) As the sun was getting close to setting we went back to their 'house' at the BEAUTIFUL Albergo del Senato right on Piazza della Rotonda and THE PANTHEON! Dave had sent a wonderful basket of Traverse City, Michigan cherry products to the hotel prior to their arrival and they were front and center in the hotel facing the Piazza and the Pantheon......I of course wanted to move in - I took about 100 photos - as you will see - we then went up to the rooftop terrace for drinks and the sunset. We had a couple bottle of Prosecco (Italian 'Champagne') ala candlelight under the umbrellas and potted olive trees. It was wonderful. The church bells were ringing throughout the evening and the views were spectacular with a full moon thrown in for added effects. (Will - there were so many bells - you would have loved them - and the Luna was sooo BIG!!....Ahnie made videos for you so you can see and hear them!!) We then headed back down to their room to get ready to head out to dinner - Oops - Dave turned the television on and they have Fox News....(Sharon, Robin, you can imagine... Jim said he would stay in their room and skip dinner...he was instantaneously tuned out of everything but the television) All we have here in our flat is Italian television - which is fine by me - but Jim is definitely having Fox News withdrawls. We had a short walk to dinner - a very nice restaurant - S. Eustachio. We were going to suggest Hosteria Costanza but they had been there two nights before. (Cindy - we can't wait to eat there - they also said it was awesome!) We found Jewish Artichokes on this menu and that made us happy - and Dave and Lori were anxious to try them - as well as the anchovie and mozzarella filled zucchini blossoms. We had veal for dinner and it was all wonderful....we discovered that they had not had a real Gelato as of yet though - so when we finished dinner - a little after 11 - we headed back towards the Pantheon and took them to Della Palma - we ate our gelato on the way towards Giolitti so that they would know where to find that one tomorrow. (McTaggart - they too might try your quest to find out how Gelato affects the waistline). With the Cigars burning - we decided to end the evening back at the Trevi Fountain - under the moonlight at midnight. It was a great evening - we walked back to Marcus' column and went our separate ways. They were going to the Vatican today, then they fly out early in the morning to Paris - hitting the Eiffel Tower, Musée d'Orsay, Notre Dame, and the River Siene all in an afternoon and an evening and fly back to the U.S. on Thursday.

Ciao!

Fox
I am sure you do not know that E.D. Hill got canned on the Fox and Friends show. She is still with Fox in another capacity. May many a Gelato cross your lips and stick to your hips. Just kidding. Have one for me.
