Greetings from the smallest capital city in Scandinavia...the city of Oslo, Norway.  What a beautiful journey entering the Norwegian Fjords to arrive in this city which is also the site of the Nobel Peace Prize Award each year.

We headed out on foot and visited the City Hall and saw the murals in the Central Hall, site of the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony each December.  We then hopped on a tram car and rode to the outskirts of the main city and visited Frogner Park and the statues of Gustav Vigeland.  This 75 acre park was designed and decorated by the sculptor Vigeland and you will not be able to miss the main theme of his designs....There are 192 statues comprised of 600 figures of which every single one is nude and very unique.  We could have spent all day making up our own interpretations of these statues - but we had more ground to cover...so we spent a little over an hour at the park and then took the tram back to the main square in the city of Oslo.

A basic straight shot from the train station to the Royal Palace incorporated most of the sites that we saw today - it is known as Karl Johans Gate.  The Oslo Cathedral was shown it all of its glory - completely covered by scaffolding...so onward to the old Cattle Market - which today is a nice flower and fruit market.  We viewed famous hotels and buildings as well as the Parliament Building and the National Theatre.  We were lucky enough to see some of the guards marching down the main street towards the castle past the first University in Norway where we happened to be stationed on a park bench writing postcards at the time.

We walked through a nice park and headed back towards the Harbor front where we wandered around admiring the boats before heading back to the ship.  We didn't have a lot of time in Oslo, but we had nice sunshine and blue skies and that really enhanced the day.

As we are sailing back out to sea and down towards Copenhagen we are seeing such charming little homes on rocky islands and outcroppings - it is just beautiful.

It is a good thing you are already on the trip as Jim would probably be catatonic from the crap going on in the stock market and would not be able to go. I expected to see Jim in one of those nude poses. We need to set a date when we can come and see you to hear about these trips. We will call you soon. Have a great time and don't let any rocks fall on you if you go back to Stonehenge.

That was an interesting trip! I think that it could be Herman himself.....if not a relative...a see a distinct resemblance.
