The rains had broken and the day was fresh, a really fat fish kept breaking the surface of the lake and I thought of Tom's wise words "get fishing hooks man", I was salivating.

I found the best way to overload my bike and finally set off at about 12 p.m.   The lake was nice but I didn't fancy swimming in it, too much foam.

At about 3 p.m I had to choose whether to continue east to Poland or turn south and follow the oravica river into a more wooded area where I could perhaps camp in the wild. I choose the latter option and about a mile from Oravice I spotted a logging tracking going up into the woods.

The river was about knee height, cold and clean, I stumbled and pushed and forced my way up the track towards the woods, I dumped my obese dual-wheeled motionator and climbed up into the forest.  There was a strange atmosphere (you guessed it, I bottled it), dark, nothing growing except future Ikea flat/pack beds and wardrobes whooshing upwards in there evolutionary race for sunlight.  The winner gains a chainsaw through the truck, I think it's called sustainable logging.  They only take the big ones which in turn I assume means that nature's winners are now the losers since the weedier trees get more chance to procreate.  Man controlling nature.

I do digress.

I turned yellow belly, chicken, got spooked, frightened, scared.... I think it was the thought of waking up at 2 a.m to an alcoholfied, zombie, chainsaw wielding ex lumberjack that finally convinced me to abandon the woods in favour of the campsite in Oravice.

For my cowardice it was above an outdoor disco pub where a keyboard player sang western classic pop anthems in Slovakian ALL NIGHT.
