After my big New Years party I want to escape the big city and check out a small island near the south east coast of Bali, called Nusa Lembongan. Supposingly there are great beaches and diving should be amazing. I take a small speedboat to the island and along the ride we see massive clouds forming above us. The rainy season really started now and we reach the island just in time before the heavy rain falls down. About the beaches.. They are overrated here because it's full of filth and boats. I also choose the wrong season for diving here because the manta rays are hard to spot now and it's not the season for the big sunfish either.. That's a disapointment to be honoust.. No sunny beaches, lot's of rain, no diving and a quiet Island.. Again a moment to hold my head up and look for positive things to do. I start walking around the little village and observe the people. They are not really open but still friendly. I find a nice little bar with a view over the sea and sit down there to think. Should I stay or should I go? I decide to leave the next day and not waste my time here. In the evening I go back to the same bar for dinner and write my blog and plan some stuff for the next couple of days. Travelling has it ups and downs and this was definetly a down. Still I made the best of this day and saw a different part of the Bali area that is in contrast with the really touristical part. Should you visit this island? Yes.. but only during the dry season so you can enjoy the dives and maybe see a more sunnier side of this island. Maybe I will give it another chance in the future..
