Wellington, the capital of New Zealand! And gateway to the Southern Island. I'm staying at a YHA hostel, which has hostels all over New Zealand and is relatively cheap. It's located near the barstreet, perfect!
Me and my German friend (Jan), do a small citywalk and buy some groceries for the next couple of days. My daily menu usually consists of weedbix, mueslibars, apples, banana's, orangejuice, a can of tuna and noodle soup. This is all I need to get my vitamins, carbs and protein. It's a bit boring I know, but vegetables, meat and ant other fresh food are quite expensive here if you want to make your own dinner. So that's why they invented Domino's :D
The 5 dollar deals really save me a lot of money on food. Then again I won't eat pizza for a long time when I get back..
Alcohol is also expensive around here so we bought ourselves some Bacardi cokes before we get to the barstreet. We end up in a place with some dance music and party along with the locals and other backpackers!
The next day I get up early to visit 'Te Papa' Museum which gives you some interesting information about New Zealand itself. After my visit I stumble into a foodmarket and enjoy a nice Lamb Curry wrap.
Later in the afternoon I get on to the cableway and go up hill to the Botanical gardens and have a good view over Wellington. To end the evening I've decided to go to a movie theatre. No just any theatre... nooo it's the Titan cinema with Dolby 7.1 sound!!! I went to see Taken 2, which I really enjoyed cause the Titan screen is enormous!
After this small citytrip it's time to head south and leave the Northen island. A ferry brings us to Picton, and our Nakes Bus brings us to my next stop, Nelson!
