We returned to Juliette's, and had a restorative cuppa by the pool (well wrapped up in coats and scarves, though, as the temperature was falling rapidly)
After the meal we walked back to Juliette's flat via the main Pasadena thoroughfare, where floats were beginning to assemble in readiness for the next day's parade. There were thousands of people milling around looking at the floats, despite the fact that it was getting unseasonably very cold. Juliette and Morteza had invited a few friends around, so we toasted the New Year at midnight, and then went out as a group again to look at the floats. By the time we got back again it was around 1.30am, so we retired to bed (I should mention that as Olivia and Lydia were at a party elsewhere, Liz and I grabbed their beds for an adult "sleep-over"!)
This morning I got up at around 8.30am and walked back into Pasadena to watch the start of the parade. I have to say I managed to see quite a bit of the parade, just as much as many people who had camped out overnight!
Liz and I have now returned to our little flat, getting ready for a relatively quiet day in LA, before moving on to Santa Barbara tomorrow.....
