The weather was a little changeable on Friday! Liz and I went for a morning stroll across the beach....the tide had been very high overnight and there were all sorts of bits of crab and fish bones at the high water mark.

After breakfast, and when eventually the younger members of the group emerged, we went on a little expedition to the local shop, about four miles away. I was also keen to take a closer look at a ship that had been brought into a dock area obviously in preparation for scrapping. However, when we got to the harbour, the ship had disappeared! Instead, we had a look around the little island graveyard, which was immaculately maintained, and occupied a small piece of land on a slope leading down to the sea. We then decided to drive over to the other island and have a nose around....we took the northerly route and after a few miles came to an exposed bay with a few houses...not a place for the faint-hearted (I could imagine life being pretty tough out there, even in the summer).

After lunch the clouds lingered, so we watched a DVD, and Chris and Olivia did some art. Later on I managed to persuade everyone to come down to the beach for a game with the frisbee - the tide was right out, so no danger of losing the frisbee in the sea!

After sprucing ourselves up we went over to the restaurant for our evening meal. No fish fingers tonight! The menu was short - just a selection of local food. Starters were mussels and scallops from around the island (I had the cheese course as a starter!), and the mains were halibut or local beef. Katie said the mussels were the best she'd ever had, and the beef was absolutely amazing. We were treated to a lovely sunset through the full-length glass windows of the restaurant, and when we left the whole bay was illuminated by the light from a full moon. A small group were sat round a camp fire on the beach, with kayaks at the ready - I think they planned a moon-lit paddle!
