Well folks… Easter is upon us and this is Holy Week! We have been walking in the desert (yes, literally!) the better part of lent… I am not sure who is walking who … are we walking Rowdy or is he walking us?  Our morning walks offer a fresh look at nature … the desert is green right now … and the freshness of the green along with the blooming wild flowers gets us back in touch with nature and the Holy Spirit … It also makes for a GREAT time for reflection … it also provides a time for appreciation and thanks for the spirit of life … A time for renewal …

Rowdy runs and runs and runs the whole time … it is his nature … we call him back so he learns the commands of Come, Heel, Whoa, Go … He is getting better and really gets excited when he knows that he gets to go!  Sometimes he digs and the sand flies.  When he runs he has his nose to the ground all the time… he makes a circle to the right often going out of sight then circles back around.  He then makes another circle to the left.  Sometime he goes on point and he not picky about which foot he uses to point … usually it is his front paw, occasionally he will use one of his hind paws!  Funny Boy!

When the desert wakes up in the spring there are wonderful wildflowers … You can hear the desert bushes/trees by all the bees hard at work making honey!  Usually the nearby mountain range is highlighted by clear blue skies.  Often there are birds chirping announcing that Spring is here!  We see different types of tracks … some birds, some lizards, Rowdy tracks and of course our tracks too!  Such is the freshness of discovery in the desert.  When Rowdy had visitors Gracie and Tasha accompany him on his these daily walks (for Rowdy they are daily Runs) there were three sets of dog tracks!

We hope you enjoy the pictures of our walks in the desert … Our Daily walks are soon to come to an end … We have been busy packing the RV, closing up our house,  getting ourselves ready to leave for the summer and start heading North… Tomorrow morning!  We are volunteering for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) at the Wildlife Refuge in Klamath Falls so our next blog will be from the road.  We plan our first stop in Las Vegas, Nevada.   So Happy Trails! Until we meet again!
