Caught a not so luxourious bus from Melaka to Singapore and arrived in the pouring rain! On the way we had to get off the bus twice to clear customs out of Malaysia and then with all our belongings to enter Singapore.
We had no Singapore dollars so had to get a cab to take us to a bank. The cabbie was v friendly and very knowledegable about English Premiership football...aren't they all!
We were lucky to be staying with a friend and ex work colleague of Jim's - Rob and his girlfriend April, his daughter Hannah, a dog and two little kittens!
Singapore is great. Very clean as is well known, has great transport system...the tube system here is like the MTR in HK but bigger and better and you can use your phones on the trains. And of course there is lots of great shopping. Rob and April showed us some great local restaurants and we had our first black pepper crab which I highly reccommend - defo the best crab we have tatsted so far - huge!!
One of our highlights was going to the Zoo. I'm not a big fan of zoo's with caged animals but this one was recommended by Rob and April so off we went. We had such a fantastic day there we wished we could have gone again! The animals aren't in cages at all but enclosed in area's with small deep trenches so they can't pounce on you...we also went in the evening to the night safari where you wander around another area with nocturnal animals, a superb day.
Margarida only just managed to leave Singapore without stealing one of the kittens.......it was a close call......
