Arrived here early afternoon and headed to find a guesthouse.  Most were full but ended up staying at a lovely bungalow on the edge of the river, away from the noisy bars that show
re-runs of "Friends' episodes all day, at a certain spot on the high street you can turn around and see 4 different episodes of Friends across the different bars, very bizarre!! Although hate to admit, we did end up watching about 6 episodes in a row one very hungover afternoon!

This is a very scenic part of Laos...very sleepy too but there are heaps of things to do in the area.  We went Kayaking down the river along some slightly scary rapids...no surpises but we capsized and fell out...as usual!  It was a case of hit the trees or fall out...so we fell out!...Twice!  Jim assured me he had complete control of the steering!  Hmm!

One of the most popular things to do here is to go "Tubing"...ie: floating down the river in an inflated  inner tube of a tractor wheel...you stop at bars along the way and can even jump off a high platform if you are feeling like being a bit of a nut...guess which one of us chose to do that one!? It was a great day out......(and a big Thank You to Margarida for carrying me home at 3am that morning! A long day, with too many buckets of Vodka Redbull....)
