Beside the Dawson River

Well we are parked up at a nice little town here for the night. Spent last night at another dedicated rest area at Duaringa. They seem to do these areas well in this part of Qld anyway, and the last couple of nights have been quite cold, 18 degrees!! so no need for the only thing that we have been using at caravan parks, power! The country has been really nice since Barcaldine in that it has been green and undulating and quite lush. We have driven thru heaps of little towns that all look like they are hanging on by the skin of their teeth, although there is a lot of coal mining in this area. The old Qld buildings certainly have a charm of their own. A couple came past this pm and stopped for a chat , and they are motorhomers who are parked up somewhere and he is driving trucks at one of the mines. Showed him how to order and get delivered to his door a Falcon 2 Hitch like ours , $1265 US on the credit card, all done in a few minutes over the net , UPS guaranteed delivery to the door in 10 days , he was rapt!!! a even better bargain at the moment with the $ at about 90 cents!
