ALASKA - For some people it evokes dreams of freedom and a new beginning.

For me - I have made my new beginning many times in towns such as Anchorage, Sitka, Ketchikan, and now Juneau. I love Alaska when the sun is out and I am looking across a valley at the mountains. Or when I am sailing through islands covered with tall cedar trees, and I can see whales feeding or eagles soaring on the wind.

But I am tired of the winter weather, with the spitting snow, the icy roads and the long dark nights. I am ready for an adventure in a warmer climate

Hurray!
Sounds like a familiar refrain in Canada too. Have a great time on your trip!

Hey...I like the spitting snow...
I know being a fellow Southeasterner, I am a little on the warped side--from all that rain, probably. I am happy for you and hope you don't develop heat exhaustion or something...are you sure you don't need a nurse to accompany you? Have fun! Leslie V

Winter in Alaska
Just thought you should know, Jim, a day after you left, we had record setting wind. Blew harder than I have ever seen in Juneau. 154 mph on the mountain, 75 mph at the Fed building. I would guess 90 here in the harbor. You boat is fine. Now it is snowing out, not that YOU would care. Hope you are having a good time, don't get a sunburn! -Levon-

Hey Buddy!
Hope all is well with you and the spanish immersion lessons...hola? School is going great! I got the classes I wanted and am having a hoot of a time. I ran into Bob Laurie from Planning and gave him your travel blog. Also, am sending your blog to Leora et al. Please think of us with kindness, that is, when you have the time. Take good care. Love and prayers, maryb
