Marina Salinas 9.40pm on Dunikolu

What a great time we had back at home.  On Saturday night after supper we went over to Eastbourne for the dance at the town hall.  That was great fun and good to see some of our friends there too.  We got in some much needed practise with our dancing before the party. The next day (Sunday) Steve's sons Mark and Kevin drove over from Kent and with David and Becky and the children we all went out for a meal at The Lamb Inn, Hooe.  On Monday we drove to Surbiton to see my son Phil, his wife Liz and the new baby Leah Jasmine.  An absolute cutie born on the 17th October and my third Grandchild.
Then we carried on to Northwood to see my daughter Anna and her husband Rez for the rest of the day and night.  A shopping trip to Watford next day to hunt down some mattress toppers meant that we were too late to get back to Surbiton to see the baby again, so we went to see the latest Bond movie Skyfall.

Thursday was a day driving to Kent to see Steve's family and catch up with them.

Friday was busy with shopping for cards and bits n pieces and then I drove over to Hove to see my lovely friend Paul who took me out for dinner to celebrate my birthday and his 2 years in business.

Saturday 3rd and it was the party day.  Anna and Rez arrived in the afternoon to help decorate the hotel party room.  A quick change back in Bexhill and then we were driving over to the party at 6.30pm.  I don't know about you that were there, but Steve and I had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.  It was brilliant fun, the food delicious, the disco and singer Helen excellent.  By the way you can see yourselves on YOUTUBE.!  Yes, you can!  Type in Eastborne Modern Jive and see us all there....what fun!   And yes that is how Eastbourne was spelt.

In spite of my request that you did not bring me a present, some of you did.  Thank you for all the gifts and cards.  I brought some of them onboard but the others, I'm afraid, have had to stay in Bexhill until we return.

For those of you who didn't make the party, you were all specially invited and I am so sorry to have missed you.  I hope that those who had gone down with the flu recovered well and feeling much better.

On Sunday we recovered from the party at home and celebrated my actual birthday with some of the champagne with David and Becky before Steve took me out to dinner.  What a guy!

Then it was last minute things on Monday, packing and a delicious meal with David and Becky and the children Jasmine and Xavier, then off to the airport on Tuesday morning.

What a performance at Gatwick with all our luggage.  We bought 3 cases extra from Monarch but forgot that you still have the same weight of 20kg each.  We ended up with 53kg I think it was.  What?!  This meant an excess charge of 130.  Yikes!  A desperate struggle to reshuffle everything on the airport floor stuffing things into the hand baggage and the clerk took pity on us and let us through!  Going through security we only lost 3 jars of peanut butter….apparently even though it's not a liquid, it's a paste that could be made into an explosive.  With all that amount of peanut paste maybe another kind of explosion...hehehe!
You thought the UK had rain, well you should have been here!  We left in sunshine and landed here to rain....BUT WARM...yes, that was the difference! All day it had been very very very windy and lots of rain on and off.  We hadn't been able to get off the boat but fortunately had enough provisions on board to keep us fed for a day or two.
It was great to be back in the UK but now it was time to go sailing again. We headed up the coast towards Denia and Valencia where we were going to visit and wait for a weather window to cross over to Ibiza.

Wow! I can't believe you're back on board already. It was wonderful to see you both and your party, Jilly, was the best. I hope you have already seen my enthusiastic compliments on facebook. Glad to hear you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves as well. Looking forward to hearing about your continuing travels; much love.xx

Hi, Jill

It was a great party. thanks so much for the invite. You certainly packed a lot into your week over here, but time goes so quickly, doesn't it? I'm off up to Norfolk on Saturday for a few days - visiting family research. did I tell you that I did a Family History course at the beginning of this year? I'm coming back via Chelmsford where I shall be catching up with a couple of old school friends. Must keep the liver exercised!

Take care.
