Our tans are getting very impressive, although still getting the occassional pink-bits.
This town is way more our style, no resorts, no noisy, whiney tourists. The coolest thign about Mexico actually has been the lack of Gringos, everywhere we go (besides Vallarta) has been predominantly Mexican holidayers, which is really nice.
We have bene pretty freaked out about the summer thing, the sun doesn`t set til... 8! We have been in winter pretty much continuously for a year, so it really has thrown us! In a good way, except here, because by the time we think it`s dinner time everything is shut - bless this quaint town
Really loving Mexican food still, and looking fwd to the next few weeks of it.
ALso loving the fruit in this region, you know you´re in a good place when they grow pineapples, mangos and coconuts! They make very cool fruit salads here, which are made in a pineapple, and include cucumber and I think, cactus all sprinkled with chilli salt and lime, really refreshing. We also went to a tequila bar the other night and had a wicked Marguerita, everything here is served in Massive oversized glasses, including the cocktails, you feel drunk lookng at them. Then the bar shouted us a tequila shooter - cringe you think? I``m sure the last time I had tequila with the lemon and salt I vommied soon after, but this was really smooth - good tequila, it renewed my faith, but there was a freaky man in the bar so we made our excuses and didn`t go back again! Also while we are on food apparently the term `cocktail`was derived around here, sailors on the first ships here from England saw their drinks were stirred with roots that`s Indigenous name translated to `cock`s tail` and there it all began. Interesting trivia. And also, I was amazed to learn that the vanilla pod/bean originates from a Mexican orchis that grows on the Yucatan Peninsula, and as well as that Mexicans were the first to use chocolate. Just think, without Mexico there would be no Neopolitan icecream!! A sad sad world without Chocolate and Vanilla. Also, the coffee is great here.
I think all in all Mexico is turning out to be the surprise favourite on the trip so far.
Also, we had our first chicken on a bus. It was very cute.
