Hello hello!!
I'm going to keep this entry short, as I'm tired and hungry after another long day out and about exploring the wonderful place that is Hong Kong. Today was spent on Lantau, yesterday on HK Island, the previous day in Macau, and the day before that in transit from Shenzhen, and exploring the Tsim Sha Tsui area of Kowloon where I am staying.
It's been a busy few days, and I am enjoying myself immensely. Hong Kong is a completely amazing place, with all sorts of different people, many excellent ethnic places to eat, lots to see and do, and of course, wonderful shopping!!!
Macau was fabulous; another tropical paradise, with all the amenities of the modern world. It really is true that there is a Starbucks and a McDonalds just around just about every corner of this planet. It's astonishing really. Anyhow, Macau is a gamblers heaven, and also has many beautiful old relics of the past Portuguese presence that you can explore. They also serve up some of the best Portuguese egg tarts I've ever tasted!
Some of the other things I've done so far:
-visited Victoria Peak (wow!! what a view! and the tram ride up feels like you're going completely vertical!)
-visited Lantau Island including Mui Wo, Tai O, Silvermine Beach, Po Lin Monastery and the giant seated Buddha, and the Ngong Ping 360 cable car tour.
-ridden the world longest escalator, the Central Escalator on Hong Kong Island
-Kowloon and Hong Kong Parks
-shopping!!!
Hmm, ok well, I'm gonna go rustle up some dinner...Indian at Branto over on Lock Street I think, before heading out to see the Symphony of Lights at 8 tonight. Another amazing busy day coming to a close!
Take care, and I'll upload some pics as soon as I get home (which is only in like 5 days!!! ahhh!!!)
Love,
Jill
