In Miraflores, Lima we started looking for a tour or bus down to Nasca and the Nasca Lines. We found one travel agent who called an English speaking friend and we worked out there was a flight over the lines available on Monday. Great! We rushed back to the hostal for the information the agent needed. back at the office we tried my credit card but the pin did not work. A taxi ride to another office with a different credit card companies machine Jill had more luck.

Our pick up was due at 3.15am for the 4.30am bus down to Nasca. At 3.30 am the hostal receptionist rang our travel agent to find out where the taxi was and then we cut our loses and hailed a taxi off a nearby busy (for 3.30am) street. There were no problems at the bus terminal and we tried to sleep on the bus.

The overflight lasts for 30 minutes Little spew-can

. The pilot gave us a map of where we were flying and told us which side of the plane the lines would be visible from. Most of the lines we saw we flew over on both sides. The pilot would say "Left side monkey" or "Right side hands" througth the intercom that was in need of repair.

The plane fit 6 people, including the pilot and co-pilot. The blokes were sat in the middle, and the 2 girls were squeezed into the tail end. The French girl next to Jill threw up about half way through the flight. Jill looked a bit green, and threw up just as the plane was coming into to land. We had been told not to eat much before the flight, which turned out to be good advice.

The Nazca drawings are a bit smaller than we were expecting, and it isnīt very mysterious just peering at them from an airplane window. But we had watched a documentary before the flight, and we understood why people are so spun-out by the ground pictographs. There are some bizarre patterns, and they cover a huge area of desert.

Not sure how the photos will turn out!
