Take Off!

Today is the day we finally take off around the world. It was over a year ago when we started to dream about travelling for an entire year. Our plans changed countless times but we have a worked out an adventure that sees us visiting some exciting regions of the world and opportunities to learn from the people we meet along the way.

Anyone who has taken a year off work and travelled knows that you cannot do it all by yourself. A big thank you to everyone that has helped and supported us on our adventure so far. Greg and Tracey T shared their travel experience from bicycle touring around Europe. Natalie and Carla at Qantas Darwin answered a lot of emails and adjusted our flight itinerary for us...several times. Of course we could not have planned to travel for so long without knowing that we had jobs to return to, so thank you to everyone at school who made our leave possible.

I was amazed at the quantity of household things that we have accumulated in just a few years. Greg and Tracey T, Tracy I, Jacinta, Patrick, Carmel and Brendan and the OLSH Sisters have come to our rescue storing books, teaching resources, clothes, furniture and the car. Caroline and Jason have been kind enough to house (and I hope enjoy riding) our motorbike. Our beautiful dog Bounty will be enjoying her own urban adventure this year - thankyou to Deb, Bec, Sam and Charlie for looking after her while we are off seeing the world.

Finally, our parents have homed us temporarily over the summer holidays. We know they will be following our travels online and providing us with information and support if and when we need it.

Again, thank you.

Cameron and Jillian

Off at last!
Hi Jill & Cam - so you've finally left the building! Hope the first leg goes well. I well remember the feeling of anticipation and excitement awaiting for that plane to take off. Look forward to your first batch of photos. Keep safe and well.

Hello from OLSH
Hi to both of you,
This is the first day back at work for everyone, even though I have been here since 7th January. Just a quick note to wish you well. I have booked airfares for the whole family (me, Clinton and the three kids) to travel to Europe in September. If you come across any great 'family' places to stay, visit etc etc I would really appreicate your feedback. Even if you let us know some great drinking places we could always leave the kids back at the motel! Lots of luck and travel safe.
