Having just finsihed the book of the same (ish) name, I felt a little
dissapointed on two accounts.

Firstly the book is pure fictions, I
perhaps should have realised this before, what with the author being
one Pierre Boulle a native of the lands of France.. But still, the read itself and the conclusion is just a little dry,
almost as if it is aimed at in the shape of a dig at the delusional madness that the British may have had in that post imperial era..  I have never really watch the film of the same name from start to finish, guess it's just one of those christmas films that you either nod off infront of or someone flicks through to something else.. "now where's that bond movie?"

And on second part, the town of Kanchanaburi, where the two bridges were built that the book is loosey based, for reference, one was wooden and one made from steel and concrete etc, but there's a real backing packing oasis feel to it, almost like a holiday camp in the sun.. bar's line the streets, cocktails are on offer, even dreadlocks if you want them! and the bridge and the memories of the past are consumerised and displayed.. very odd,

Although saying that, the heat of the day matched by the humidity in the air, it was hard enough just to walk around the cemetery and other sights that make up the area, purely unbearable.. the conditions that they must have been  made to work in are almost unimaginable..

So that's that.. i'm back in bangkok now, still (yes still) waiting for my camera to be repaired.. been over a week now, and I have failed in my attempts to get a definitive date from them.. : (

and make it all the more amusing i'm off for a chest x-ray tomorrow (Sun 23rd).. as in Easter Sunday.. which I didn't even realise until yesterday... whoops, think i missed mothers day as well.. oh dear..

Still, not to worry re the x-ray, I'm mid process through applying for my Aussie working visa, and as I've been in Asia now for longer than 3 months I run a risk (in their eyes) of habouring TB! nice thought, the real funny part is that I've tried to explain to them that I intend on staying in Asia for another 4 months.. and that shouldn't it be best to wait until my return to the uk? seeing as I am still at RISK! But computer says no.. they insist on my examination here and now.. madness, just hope I don't have to repeat the process again before my departure down under..

anyhow, that's pretty much it from me, well I've got a stinking headed cold that is just what you need in 35+ degree heat and humidity! have a good easter weekend!
