Last Day in USA (for awhile)
May 23, 2009
We decided there was definitely a silver lining to our flight cancellation in Kansas City, as we were scheduled to be touring the Holocaust Museum on the day of the shooting.
So, as if we transient and incommunicado before, we are now no longer reachable by phone. We'll update from Fiji...you can check us out on the live webcam at www.castawayfiji.com
. Click on the live webcam link on their home page. We'll surely be in the lounge chairs with a bucket of beer icing nearby!
More later from Fiji! Bula!
So we're finally in LA...arrived early this morning from northern virginia. We checked our bags all the way through to Fiji so we wouldn't have to deal with them here, rented a car for the day, and drove over to Santa Monica for the majority of our 12-hour layover. The beach was beautiful and it was so nice to get out and enjoy the sun and sand, eat at the pier and otherwise waste the day away. We're now waiting to board our flight (just 2 more hours to go), and boy are we tired! D.C. was so much fun though...saw a National's game (they lost), Becca got her "re-do" tour of the Washington Monument (she had a bad experience on our last visit there), and we had a wonderful picnic with family and friends at a nearby lake. Val, Pam and Allison got to reminisce about the old days of travelling overseas with the friends they traveled with! Thanks to everyone that took the time to come see us off and wish us well on our journey!
