We just spent our last day in a beach town going snorkeling on an island 45 min away on a boat. It was the perfect exclamation point of our 16 or 17 days bumming around on beaches. One of my favorite thing to do (beside drinking beers and eating tipical food) has been to watch my kids show off their balancing skills on surf boards and stand ups. Watching the locals surf at high tide, ignoring the reefs sticking out a few feet away, was also phenomenal. We are on our way to Monteverde, or the cloud forest, where we will zip line over the forest canopy, walk hanging bridges and hopefully see a bunch of wild life, drink beers and eat more great food.

To appreciate Costa Rica to its fullest, you need more money then we have. Everything seems to cost 35, 40 or even 50 $ per persons to do anything. You want to surf lessons? 40$, water rafting? 50$, you get my drift. You also need to like crapy beer to spend any among of time in this country. If you like Bud then my friend this place is for you. We were lucky enough to find a few good micro brew beers but they are hard to find and very expensive.
Would I come back? Yes, but not yet. There are other places I want to go see first and I want to go back to Vietnam before I can be convince to come back here. Don't get me wrong, we had nothing but a great experience, all I saw was smiles and happy locals everywhere we went even a few expats are still smiling, but 24 days here was probably long enough.

Talk to you later

Glad to hear you've enjoyed lots of beach time; also good to think you're all ready to come home. Perhaps there develops a sameness when you live in what is called paradise. Last night on the way home from DQ (it's summer here, hence the need to visit DQ) we passed a young woman out dog walking with 2 very fine black dogs hooked in tandem; both well behaved, trotting along with tongues hanging out, especially Puddy. It was a nice sight. Costa Rica sounds expensive, especially for families ... there will be free Tankhouse in our fridge. We look forward to the Zipline report and your return.
