Not so much.
In an activity where the the few seconds you remain standing on the board are seen as an accomplishment - I am an abject failure. Our kids, on the other hand, seemed to hop up on the board and surf to the beach with no problem. I think the failure here is not so much the 44 year old body, but the 44 year old brain. A brain that has developed the capacity to make a simple act of standing up into a confusing and complicated task. By the time the 44 year old brain has sorted out what foot should move first and whether I am appropriately centered on the board, I have fallen off for the hundredth time
I woke up this morning having dreamt that I was at school being chewed out by my principal (not my current one) for not being prepared for something. In the dream, all of the computers had been turned upside down, which was impeding my ability to print some essential piece of paper. It had also occurred to me, as I woke, that we had forgotten to deal with Torin's trombone rental before we left. What this goes to show is that it doesn't matter how many miles and mango trees you put between you and your life, it always finds you!
PS - the thought about the trombone was weirdly prophetic, as when I checked our bank account this morning I discovered a new charge indicating that Torin is now firmly committed to trombone lessons for another year!
