Safranbolu is like something from the mind of Hans Christian Andersen. It is a collection of Ottoman style white painted houses nestled into a valley, and if it was any quainter it would make you sick. The cluster of houses once owned by wealthy Ottomans is so well preserved that UNESCO placed it on their world heritage list and it's lovely. The tiny streets covered in grapevines are great to wander around and sup a strong Turkish tea. Our guesthouse (known in Turkey as a pension) was so cute. It was inside one of the old wood-framed houses and the owners were so friendly and welcoming. There was not a lot to do apart from walk around and dig the vibe so I decided to get sick after eating some dolmades covered in suspect yoghurt, or was it the whole plate of Baklava?
