The story was much the same the next day, a steady 100kmph for 8 hours all the way up the same shit boring road. A rolling buffet of flat, dusty featureless plains, seasoned with scant trees and half eaten roo and dingo carcasses.
The caravan park was much the same too, which we plumped for just after Townsville, however it came with a pool and a bit more of a beneficial grass to gravel ratio. My dads room hadn't been decorated since 1964 and stank of stale urine.
It didn't take much effort to be back on the road for 7.30 and we hit Cairns by 2.30.
