Colonia del Sacramento was about short 2-hour boat ride away from Buenos Aires. I wanted to go there because a few friends had told me that it was worth it.

The town is charming because of it's old-fashioned buildings, streets and cars. Life appeared to be slow and easy-going. The day I was there it was very hot (maybe high 80s F or close to 30 C). I welcomed the sun because I knew in a few weeks I wouldn't have it anymore.

Since I only had a few hours to see the city, I rented a bike. The old town there, truthfully, is walkable. But I figured in the hot sun, it'd be nice to have a breeze while biking. I found a bike rental near the bus station and they had these wonderful Trek bicycles. I rented one and it was so smooth and refreshing to use. As I biked past the other tourists, I couldn't help but think that they had to have been jealous.

I got to see tons of interesting in the old town and had to stop frequently to snap photos. It seemed like on every block, there was something to see. After I stopped in the old town, I biked north along the coast. There were some beaches there but the water was brown because the water was coming from the mouth of a major river. The sand on the beach was nice, but it wasn't crowded at all. I biked until I reached an abandoned old bullfighting ring. I imagined how the Spanish or Portugese settlers used it in the past and how it must have been considered huge for holding a few thousand people.

Finally I returned to the bus station but not before getting a much-needed Gatorade. =)
