This was one of the most memorable days of my trip.
It began slow as I endured a five hour bus ride over to El Calafate. There was a border check for both leaving Chile and entering Argentina. And, a bus load of people had to go through the border control. We probably spent 45 min at both checks combined.

Finally arriving in the city, it was surprisingly sunny and warm. In fact, I felt as if it were too hot when compared to being in Torres del Paine or Puerto Natales. I walked through the streets a bit wandering around and booked my tour to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier the next day.

Randomly, I ran into the friends I had made in Punta Arenas! I ended up getting dinner with two of them and we found a pizza place where we decided to try guanaco – a patagonian animal similar to a deer. For some reason, the appetizer made with lamb, hare and guanaco was cold and made with lots of vinegar. The worst part was that we had ordered two thinking that they would be warm, small "pies" (as written on the menu). In the end, we couldn't stop laughing at how hard to eat it was, especially because one of the guys did not like cold food or vinegar. The beer was also not the greatest and the combination made the meal one of the worst of the trip. Despite the food, I never laughed so hard during a meal and we feed the leftovers to the street dogs, who at first were hesitant to eat it too!
