What would Valentine's Day be without... penguins? Well, one of the girls I met from the hostel said that penguins were her favorite animal, so to her, today was a date with 100,000 penguins. The reason is because there's a huge penguin colony in the Isla Magdelena – an island nearby. It's where the penguins go to breed and then return to the frigid ocean waters.

We took a bus then boat to get to the island and it was one of the happiest experiences of my life to see all those little penguins running around. The weather was perfectly clear and sunny and it didn't smell much at all because it was so windy. There was a walkway where you could go up to a lighthouse on the island (where it also happened to be the windiest). As we made our way up, we observed all the little penguins and had a good laugh when they did funny things.

Later, we took the boat to see another island, which had tons of sea lions. They were huge, loud, and stinky. But it was still fascinating to see that many of them and some even swam close to the boat out of curiosity. It was easily the best Valentine's Day that I've had.
