The Aftermath
Entry 21 of 53 | show all | print this entry |
So today's entry will be much shorter, we promise! Mostly because we've done close to nothing, since yesterday drained us, it was long. We were going to call the car rental people back today to make sure that everything worked out, but we forgot the number, and then TJ was looking at his finances and realized that he was charged $59 Canadian for the phone call to Auckland to talk to the owner we had dealt with!!!! I guess that was our punishment. Stupid really since we called him to see about getting out of the $25 potential charge, and ended up paying over double that, and still might have to pay that too. Very stupid by us, ah well. So, last night we had some beers after our long walk home in the rain, played cards and relaxed. We stayed up later than usual (since we had a light and didn't go to bed with the sun around 9:30pm like we did when we tented), but then we slept in until 12:30pm today because of it. It was glorious. The blinds cut out all the light so we didn't know how late it was. After wasting half the day sleeping, we decided to just relax for the day, go to the local mall (this time we took the bus, as it was on our very long walk yesterday) to look for some new books (we got "Angels and Demons", "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", yes Jess is back-tracking through the books now, and TJ bought another crime book he doesn't know the name of). Then we looked through some shops, Jess found some cheap tank tops on sale ($10 each), and TJ got a present (it's a surprise/mystery for someone), we didn't really do much else. Now we're waiting until our movie starts so we thought we'd email now. We're going to see "Blood Diamond" at 5:40pm. Like we said, nothing much to report today. We're definitely ok with that. After our movie, we'll go back and figure out our plans for the rest of our time in New Zealand. TJ says to say "Toodles"! He's weird. Bye everyone! Thanks for the emails! We're uploading more pictures tomorrow for sure. Be ready!

Don't forget what Brad Anderson and Rob Willms said. When in New Zealand and Australian stop at the Hostels to buy phone cards. It will make any calling local or longdistance a LOT cheaper. They say the companies of there really get you and you must buy the cards for all calls. I will add some cash to your card to get some. It will save us all in the long run.
Hope all works out fo... show all

Well sounds like the last few days have been rather eventful for you. Was the movie good? Thinking of seeing it.
