I know it has been forever since I wrote an entry, but every time I find a computer, this site seems to be down. Sigh.
So, today is my birthday, yay! and my family is coming to visit, yay! I'm so excited. We had a bit of a long month in site. School is out, so there is less work for both of us. I did have a Christmas cookie party which was great fun. I made 500 sugar cookies and invited all of the neighborhood kids over to decorate. By the time we had finished, my kitchen table looked like an Easter basket had exploded on it. It was great. We're also having a birthday party next week; we're going to make pizza and hope it's a hit. In any case, I want to use my basil. My plants are chest high and about to seed out. I can't wait to plant next year's garden and all of the gardens after that. I have always killed my house plants, but not anymore. I intend to return a master gardener.
Simon is planning on bringing lots of construction supplies into site in January so he can auction off losas and fogones. He plans to sell raffle tickets and make a grid out of the school yard and put a number in each square and then set a cow loose and where ever the cow goes poo, that number wins the prize. I think it'll be a hit.
I still plan on doing summer camp, and next school year working with 3-4 schools instead of just the one. I spent all of December feeling like I'm being lazy instead of feeling like it's summer vacation. My young ladies group fell apart, but I may try again in January. I did finish the reading and writing project we had been working on, and the teachers did use a few of the new techniques, at least the day I was watching, and I think one of the teachers uses the puzzles on a regular basis, because the kids tell me they play with them. This is the frustrating part; if the kids like the puzzles, and they help the teacher, why hasn't the teacher made any more, or even asked me for more, or even told me, hey I like those puzzles. Grrr.
It's hot here. The other day a got a sunburn that later peeled form being in the sun for half an hour at 9 AM. I'm not complaining; I love the hot weather. Much better than 50 degrees and no heater. Living in the country is so beautiful; deep blue skies and all kinds of green and there's one tree here that flowers bright red in bunches so it looks like a tree changing color in the fall.
I love you all. Write me e-mails.
