n We got to visit the Capitol and had a private tour by our representative's aide. The capital is simply amazing – seeing the old senate chambers and Supreme Court was a step back into history.

n  We went to the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. They have them in darkened rooms to protect them since they’re so faded.

I didn’t get to go play because I had to set up my apartment, but from what I’ve heard- the Smithsonian rocked.

August 21, 2009

n  We toured the White House. Yes, the White House. Unfortunately there are no pictures since you can’t take a camera inside L

n  We went to the National Holocaust Museum and were amply disturbed.

n  Then we tried to see the Washington Monument but there was a thunderstorm and we had to vacate it.

n  So we walked to the WWII memorial and from there we went to Lincoln’s Memorial. From that point we walked over to the Vietnam memorial. Dad knew of someone who had been killed from Twain Harte so we looked up his name.
