I got to Caracas only to realize that tomorrow is the last day of the election campaign...meaning that there are huge rallies today and tomorrow, and the city is almost completely out of hotel rooms. I found one without TOO much difficulty....for a price. Oh well, last night in Venezuela. This place is insane though...there are people EVERYWHERE, and it seems EVERYTHING is politicized.
Speaking of which, I accidentally walked into a Rosales hot spot and ate lunch. I guess it's only fitting because I've been hanging with Chavistas all week. Anyway, I knew they were all for the opposition because they were all wearing blue shirts (and I mean EVERYONE....except me....I'm wearing gray. Very neutral) and were watching Rosales' rally on TV. Quite interesting!! Oh, and yes, it was an expensive restaurant. haha. True to the stereotype that Rosales' supporters are all wealthy.
Now I'm just updating the blog, then I'll head back to the hotel for a bit, do some yoga, maybe grab a small bite for dinner and then hit the hay early. I have to get up at 430 tomorrow to get to the airport on time, so that should be interesting. I've already lined up my taxi with the guy who dropped me off at the hotel....if he shows up. He seemed keen to get the fare though, so that should be good.
Anyway, that's about it for my last day in Venezuela!
