I do NOT understand it...I came to central america expecting horrendous heat, and Iīm freezing my ass off!! Seriously...Iīve been sleeping in my warmest clothes with a minimum of two blankets....it must be the altitude. Iīm really glad I brought warm clothes! I was NOT expecting this kind of cold! haha.
My first Spanish class was fantastic. My teacher is amazing...sheīs a law student here, and is very politically aware, which is great. We chatted for a while about the current political regime in Guatemala, and about the past. We also did so much work with verbs! I learned more in two hours than I did in six weeks of classes in Kingston. Itīs one-on-one, so thatīs great. However, itīs exhausting.
After class, the aussies and I walked around town looking for the supermarket. Would you believe that itīs about three blocks from our hotel??! We sure were surprised. haha. I took a photo of what I believe to be the magic archway leading to wherever you want in this city...which helps to explain how we found our hotel last night. haha.
One of the most interesting things that my teacher and I talked about today was the involvement of drug cartels in the left-wing movement here...very interesting. It seems to be a known fact, but something I never really considered too much.
Tonight is just a quiet night in...tomorrow I have class again, and a field trip to some hot springs! woohoo!!
Costs: 95$ for a week of Spanish, 15$ for food (grocery shopping!) 5$ for hotel.
