Well, I think I found the worst road in Mexico. It was the one that our overnight bus was on last night from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido. The night started off fine...the bus was half empty, and all seemed well. Then around 11 I was woken up by some family moving into the seats behind me....the woman managed to hit me on the head with something, then laughed when I woke up with a start. Grrr. Then her child would not shut up! She just kept talking and yelping. Oh....and they all seemed to have some version of avian flu, or something like it, as they were all coughing and cackling and generally making disgusting noises. Despite all that, the bus ride wasn't actually that bad, and I think I slept at least 6 hours.

We arrived in Puerto Escondido and got checked into our hostel (Hotel Mayflower) and then headed out for breakfast. Ahhh breakfast. Seems the food here is a vast improvement over the city. We had french toast, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee, all for 3.50$. Then it was off to the beach to swim in the biggest waves I've EVER swam in!! I was pretty scared, but we survived, and decided that tomorrow we'd try our hand at surfing.

We came back to the hostel, got cleaned up and hung out with some other travellers, then went for a sweet dinner at a local Italian place. It's a damn good thing I swam all day! haha.

Overall, I'm having a blast, but miss my friends and family tons. Part of me wishes I could be home with you guys! Much love to all.

costs for today: Taxis 3$, food 19$ (really splashing out!), hostel 8.50$.
