The hotel was fine...one of those great bathrooms with a shower right over the toilet. Made me really glad I brought my shower sandals!
Overall, my impressions of Baja were extremely positive. Itīs a gorgeous place, although a tad bit expensive when youīre travelling alone, and itīs hard to meet other travellers as there isnīt a hostel in Baja sur. The desert was extremely lush as the hurricaine came through, but I suspect that normally itīs a lot more desert-like, which is probably beautiful as well. The roads were a little hit-or-miss, again because of the hurricaine, but very driveable.
After making my way to the ferry terminal (I tried to buy my ticket in town, but the office closed before LP could update itīs Mexico guide...), I discovered that the ferry to Mazatlan only ran three times a week, and not on Mondays. Great. So I ended up taking a ferry to Topo, a huge detour. Iīll have to take a bus 13 hours to Guadalajara from there...and there are some other logistical problems I might encounter along the way. Should be sketchy.
So total costs for La Paz- 15$ for the hotel, 4$ in taxis, approx 17$ for food, 2$ to the ferry terminal. The bus here was another 60$ but well worth it as the drive was spectacular.
