My sister, Heather and I went to Sandbanks Provincial Park today. It was a ton of fun - very windy, which meant that there were really big waves. (Well, big for Lake Ontario!) Only problem was that it stirred up a lot of seaweed, so that was a bit icky. We spent a good amount of the time out of the water picking seaweed off each other. Yummy!

The ride there was good - we took the highway, which is significantly faster (although less scenic) than the direct route from Kingston, which involves a ferry ride (Glenora Ferry). The route into the park was extremely backed up, given that it was the long weekend. We learned a valuable lesson though - take Provincial Route 12 into the park, park in the lot near the entrance and then buy your entrance pass there. It would probably have saved us at least half an hour of stop-and-go traffic.

I got a pretty wicked sunburn on my back - my own stupidity....something about getting distracted when I was applying my sunscreen....

I guess this week I'll have to stay inside a fair bit and get rid of this burn before I head out kayaking in the Thousand Islands next weekend! Good idea because I have a book review due, and should seriously consider doing some research if I'm going to get my next paper written!

My beach read: Digital Fortress (Dan Brown)
