The rest of the conference was conference-like - kinda rough, but lunch was good. I had some good chats with some of the participants, which was nice. However, I really got the impression that some of the people here don't like me at all. Not sure if it's something I said, the report I presented on or what. Just really getting the cold shoulder. It seems like a lot of them know each other from before, and are happy to hang out together. Not the nicest.
Anyway, after the conference, I came back to my hotel room, knit, did some yoga (and almost bound by myself in Marichyasana D!!!), and then got ready to go out. John, the director of Project Ploughshares, and I went to dinner at another hotel a few minutes away. We cabbed there, but it was dark, so I still haven't seen too much of Nairobi. Except one thing that kinda made be laugh: Libyoil....seemed to be a Libyan gas company, but the sign looked almost identical to the old PetroCan one....hehe. Lots of roundabouts and crazy potholes...
Dinner was delicious. I had an okay glass of South African Shiraz (actually hot, it must have been near the stove...) and brie baked in pasta served with apples. For my main dinner I had lentil & Chick pea korma...it was SOOOO filling, but delicious. Mmm. I gotta say, I'm pretty much loving the food here!
Tomorrow I'm seeing Jen's friend Vic, who will give me a bit more of a tour.
