I leave for Kenya on Sunday.  I'm soooo not ready.  I just
got my passport yesterday, and I don't have any Kenyan currency (don't
even know what it's called!), don't have a LP Kenya, and don't really
know anything about the country.  However, I'm not particularly
concerned, since this trip is very different from my other ones.

This trip, I'm going to Kenya to attend a conference, and the NGO that
is sponsoring me (Africa Peace Forum) is taking care of all the
details.  I'm not even sure what carrier I'm flying with!
I've got two days of conference while I'm there, and the rest of the
time is mine!

I do, however, have one plan while I'm there.  My sister's friend
is there visiting her fiance, and I'll be meeting up with her to get a
tour of the second largest slum in Africa...should be an eye-opening
experience for sure.  I'm also really looking forward to what I
hope will be some intense culture shock.  It's been a long time
since I've travelled somewhere that I don't speak the language
(although I'm sure enough English is spoken...)......

Anyway, the flight details are also pretty funny.  I leave for
Toronto at 7 or 8 am, and Ross and I are driving.  We'll meet up
with Gilly and her partner for brunch, then see Ross's sister and her
partner in the afternoon.  My flight leaves at 6:30pm, and I get
to Amsterdam at 7:30 the next morning.  I have a two or three hour
layover, then I'm back on a plane to Nairobi - where I arrive at 8:30
at night.  I should be well and fucked by the time I get there!
The good thing is that I can then go straight to sleep, and wake up
refreshed for the conference the next morning...or at least that's the
